Spices and further trees Book II, Chapter 3, Section 1c Chapter 3, Item 56a Cinnamon Cinnamon is so called, because his top is as it were folded or plaited together; it is of an ashie or dusky colour, the leaf is like to wild Marjoram, it never smells till it be throughly dry. It groweth amongst Briers on very hard Rocks, being about two Cubits high, and is gathered with much pains and difficulty, the best groweth on the top Twiggs. There is a kind of counterfeit Cinnamon, called Cassia, or Cassia Lignum. Back to Text & Pictures
