Descriptions and drawings from Randle Holme's Academy of Armory

By N.W. Alcock, University of Warwick and Nancy Cox, University of Wolverhampton

The content of this website was originally published on CD-ROM by the British Library (2003) who have generously given permission for it to be used by the Tools and Trades History Society.

It is with great sadness that I record here the death in 2019 of my co-author, Nancy Cox, whose work on the Dictionary of Traded Goods formed one of the key parts of this publication, as explained in the Introduction. She would certainly have welcomed the initiative by the Tools and Trades History Society to bring the work of Randle Holme and his Academy of Armory to a new audience and her contribution is greatly missed.
This re-presentation of the Academy of Armory is dedicated to her memory.
Nat Alcock
